What are Meta tags?



The Meta tags or Meta tags are commonly used to summarize the contents of the page to search engines and web browsers. That is, describe the page so that it can be understood by different web services. There are also Meta tags to tell the robots how they want the page to be handled.

The description Meta tag is an HTML tag like this:

It has been commonly said that the words that appear in the Meta description help to gain visibility in the rankings, but the truth is that no. Inflating your Meta descriptions with keywords does not improve your positioning in the least.
But this does not mean that the Meta description is useless as it serves to:
  • Tell the user what the page - When a user does a search on Google can see the Meta description text on the search results page, eliminating the need to visit the site to see if it is what you are looking for. If you do not fill this tag, or you do it poorly, you leave the search engine selective fragment of the text of the page, which can result in a text of worse quality than another one written by you.
